My wife and I have been involved in several Methodist churches throughout our married life, so when we moved to Lincoln and did some “church shopping”, we found ourselves happily committing to St. Mark’s. But not just for Sunday worship. We don’t think you really get to know the church, the pastors, or the people behind the smiles until you get involved in church activities. And so we did. One of our first visits to St. Mark’s had us pretty much convinced this was the place. Mostly because it was so friendly. We came in and sat down and yes, we missed the pews and the stained glass, however, a couple by the name of Bob and Bea sat down next to us and drew us into conversation. Well, that experience was good enough to make us sure we were making the right choice. But it evidently wasn’t enough for Bob and Bea! They went out of their way to find out our last names and gave us a phone call later in the week. It was great to hear from them, and include us in their Saint Marks small group. My wife and I have attended an Alpha class and Keenagers. My wife is involved in the Prayer Quilting Group and United Methodist Women. I volunteered to help mow the lawns around the church and am beginning to work with the staff to start a BeFriender Ministry. We are happy to see and hear the Congregation is committed to building a new sanctuary. Commitment is the word that I feel makes a strong congregation. So get involved and stay committed to Saint Marks United Methodist Church. I am.
